The Lightest Touch

“Good poetry begins with the lightest touch.”

David Whyte

Subtlety defines the style of chiropractic I offer. I find that a softer and slower approach more closely reflects the speed of the biology that unfolds in the areas of the spine related to the parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system refers to the structures and processes that help us to rest, digest, recover, and repair. The neurology is clustered in the neck and sacrum, which is why I often look to those areas. Our ability to find balance in autonomic nervous system (and thereby in how we relate to the world) depends on a proportional response from both parasympathetic (rest/digest) and sympathetic (fight/flight/freeze). Knowing when and how to address and adjust different areas is, like poetry, an art.
